Latest Updates from Our Project:

Editing is still in progress!
over 4 years ago – Mon, Nov 25, 2019 at 09:32:15 PM

Thanks for the prompt, Elley!

Every submission is in, and all the art is done. The book layout is set.

The last couple of items are editing (which is underway, thanks to Rich and the great Shawn Merwin), and the maps, which won't take long to do. There will be some final, very minor tweaking to the layout after edits, and then the pdf will be sent to all of you, and we'll be asking you to point out any mistakes you catch that we might have missed. And then it's off tot he printer!

Thank you so much for your patience!

Editing by Shawn Merwin! We're almost there!
over 4 years ago – Thu, Nov 07, 2019 at 08:25:52 PM

We are extremely excited to announce that Shawn Merwin is in the process of editing the manuscript for Tales & Tomes from the Forbidden Library! Shawn is an acclaimed D&D writer and editor, and a contributor to the library's collection of books. He also edited the Esper Genesis Threats Database.

Initial edits have been done by the Alligator Alley Entertainment team (really, Rich), and Shawn is going to bring the project home. Once editing is complete and Rich has the maps finished, we'll send the final draft pdf to you (and try to find any errors we missed), and then it's off to the printer!

Thank you so much for your patience and support as we make this book a reality.

We're excited to say we're into the next step for Tales & Tomes from the Forbidden Library! With the art pieces complete, editing is getting underway. Preliminary layout is already done, and once the cartography is in we'll have a book in very short order! Thank you again for your patience as this project moves toward the final product.

Gen Con 2019 Hand Out, Update!
over 4 years ago – Mon, Sep 09, 2019 at 07:46:39 PM

Hi everyone!

As promised, here is a link to the promotional hand out we gave away at the Forbidden Library event at Gen Con last month!

We are awaiting the last few pieces of art from Sean Usyk, and a couple of contributions from our librarians. Next steps are editing, map creation, and little bit of layout (much of that is done) and then we will have a pdf, and then it's off to the printer!

Thank you so much for your patience! We are also including a link to the Forbidden Library page on our website to share.

All the best,

Brian, Rich, Chris & Eric

Forbidden Library Update; Last Days on Gregory's Icarus Graphic Novel
almost 5 years ago – Tue, Jul 09, 2019 at 12:06:47 AM

Hello, Librarians!

Work continues apace on art for the book, and we're happy that Sean Usyk has agreed to do more work on this project. We're so excited to have him aboard!  This is going to be a beautiful book!

Our printer is going through some necessary maintenance retooling their presses, which unfortunately prevents us from having books ready in time for Gen Con in early August, but we are still  looking good to have a PDF ready in a few weeks, and physical books a few weeks later.

And Gregory Wilson's graphic novel kickstarter is coming to an end this week!

Greg’s graphic novel set, Icarus and Jellinek, has 4 days left on Kickstarter, and he could really use your help. They’ve almost reached that critical 65% funding mark that will help push them to the end. Let’s help them get there.

There’s even something extra in it just for us: Forbidden Library backers who also support the Icarus/Jellinek Kickstarter will have the story of Icarus and Jellinek added to their Forbidden Library, with a special description of the book (with game mechanics) along with an illustration sent to you digitally by Greg and the Detroit-based indie publisher, Atthis Arts.

The Icarus and Jellinek graphic novels are hand-drawn, hand-colored and indie-published. We love that dedication to storytelling and art, and think you will too. Greg’s storytelling combined with the stunning art of Áthila Fabbio immerse us into this tale of unlikely heroes: a winged young man who falls into a dormant volcano with no memory of anything but his name, and a flamepetal prospector down on his luck (and everything else), with his two-tailed, four-legged, lava resistant companion, Rig. It is a beautifully illustrated story of wonder, of friendship, and of a battle to overcome tyranny, with creatures who discover that what unites them at the core is more important than what divides them on the surface.

We’re excited to see Greg’s storytelling brought to life and hope you’ll help them reach their goal.

Greg has also added a stretch goal to livestream a one-shot Forbidden Library adventure on his Twitch Channel that will feature a storyline based on the Book of Icarus as found inside the Forbidden Library. We hope they can reach it; we know we’ll be there for that.

Thanks, Librarians, for your support!
